Silvia Rosa is a spring wheat breeder and geneticist at Centre de Recherche sur les Grains (CEROM, Quebec, Canada) and co-director at OR Melhoramento de Sementes (Brazil). She holds B.Sc. (Pharmacy) and M.Sc. (Cellular and Molecular Biology) degrees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences from the University of Manitoba (Canada). Silvia's applied research program is focused on spring wheat breeding for high and stable yield, end-use quality, resistance to diseases (primarily Fusarium head blight and rusts), and resilience to the effects of climate change and broad adaptation. She is very active in advising young agricultural researchers and is especially interested in increasing national and international collaborations to accelerate genetic gain and knowledge.
