Tom Lumpkin is Emeritus Director General at The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in México. He holds a B.Sc. in Agronomy from Washington State University (USA), and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Agronomy from the University of Hawaii (USA). As a young man Tom served in the U.S. Peace Corps in India and has since held several leadership roles, most notably as Chair of the Department of Agronomy at Washington State University (USA), Director General of the World Vegetable Center (AVRDC) in Taiwan, and Director General at The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in México. As a globally-recognized scientist and administrator, Tom has dedicated his career to advancing teaching and training programs in international agriculture.
