I am Esther Wangari Mwangi from Kenya. I work at the Kenya Agricultural & Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) under the Cereal Breeding Section. I am affiliated with the Accelerating Genetic Gain in Wheat project. My core duties and activities are based in the field. This includes monitoring and maintaining CIMMYT nurseries and nurseries from other countries, including preparing nurseries, planting, and harvesting. In addition, I assist in data collection and entry on rust diseases.

So far I have learned interesting topics, including the breeding program and nomenclature on how you code your materials. This has given me a clear picture of what has been ongoing in CIMMYT breeding activities. I am sure by the end of this training I will have gained much that will enable me to work effectively.
